My Poems
This is where I pour my heart and soul into my words. My poems are where I can truly express my voice while telling a story and I find that to be the most powerful thing in the world.
You seem to live vicariously,
And think that no one takes you seriously.
It’s hard to tell what’s on your mind,
When all I see is a wall that you hide behind.
You feel the need to conform,
To your friends, to me, you’re becoming torn.
So much has changed,
That it feels like we’re estranged.
You know I love you,
No matter what you do.
You are the most important thing to me,
You are the first face every morning that I want to see.
No one expects you to act a certain way,
But you do it anyway.
Ode to My Love
I looked up from my locker.
And that was when I saw her.
Her face was glowing, her eyes sparkled.
I couldn’t help but go up and talk to her.
I stuttered on my words,
She smiled and blushed.
I asked her on a date,
She said ‘pick me up at seven’.
I knocked on her door, and out she came.
She was stunning.
It was at that moment that I knew,
I was in love with her.
We finally graduated.
Freed from the prison that held us back each day.
Date after date we went.
And after each one,
I fell more and more in love.
I wanted this to never end.
I think I’m going to marry her.
I searched far and wide,
For the perfect ring.
I found it,
Sparkling just liker her eyes.
I asked her the moment I got home.
She said yes.
We got married within two months.
And within a year,
We had our first child.
My life had been fulfilled.
I saw him looking at me from behind his locker.
His eyes locked with mine.
I wish he would have talked to me.
Why didn’t he talk to me?
[The bell rings, they part ways]
What Might Have Been
The way the cool air clings to my cheeks,
The way the air seems so fresh.
The way I feel,
Changes in Fall.
The way the leaves change color, red, orange, brown.
The way they land, so gracefully, on the ground.
The way the sky looks,
Changes in Fall.
The way I get to wear jeans,
Flannels, scarves, and boots,
Changes in Fall.
The way I get to dress up in costumes,
The way I get to celebrate my gratefulness,
The way I gain a year,
Changes in Fall.
Fall, how I love you so.
My favorite season,
My most desired atmosphere.
I anticipate your arrival each September,
And sadden when you leave me in December.
It is now April, it is now Spring.
Fall, you feel so far away.
But, worry not, Fall. I will wait patiently for you.
Because everything I know, everything I feel,
Changes in Fall.
Fall
Cast out, after all those years.
All that love, boiled down to tears.
